How it All Started
In 1995, two friends, Bob Reed and Frank Loving got an idea to
start a kayak shop. They both were working in the professional
maritime business and were looking for something different. As avid
kayakers they set out on a business venture to combine their hobby and
love of the ocean. With a few basic ideas and a tiny budget,
Kayak Horizons was born. Slowly but surely,
they expanded their rental fleet from 12 kayaks to the current 65 boats.
The retail shop grew as well and they began to stock more and more kayaks
and accessories on a daily basis. Kayak Horizons remains
the most experienced and best equipped paddlesports shop on the Central
Coast. The family oriented atmosphere at Kayak Horizons continues with the proud new owners, Dennis and Debby Krueger. They purchased the business late in the summer of 2004, and are excited to be serving the new and returning kayaking enthusiasts at their gorgeous bayfront dream!
