7. End of Morro Bay
If you’ve made it this far, congratulations. This spot is the
terminus of the Bay approximately 3.5 miles from the kayak shop
or 7 miles round trip. This area can be a haven for numerous
shore and wading birds, bat rays, small leopard sharks, and a
popular haulout for harbor seals. Paddling in this area is very
tidal dependent as almost all of the water shown in this picture
can be gone at low tide exposing very large areas of mudflats.
High winds can also be a concern here due to the wide-open terrain
and unobstructed fetch. If you plan on kayaking back this far,
check at the shop for tide and wind conditions.
